Cutlery Care

To keep your cutlery looking its best, follow these guidelines even if you use a dishwasher:

• Rinse the cutlery after use to remove food residue, even if you plan to wash it later,
• Place the cutlery in the designated basket in the dishwasher with the knife blades facing upward and the handles of the other pieces also facing upward.
• Cutlery must always be in an upright position when washed in the dishwasher so that any remaining water can drain off after rinsing,
• Select a shorter wash cycle, or dry the cutlery by hand after the cycle ends to prevent rust spots caused by food residue or dishwashing detergent;
• If cutlery remains in the hot, humid environment of the dishwasher for too long, it may also corrode.

Keep in mind that the key to preventing your cutlery from corroding is to allow a so-called “passivation layer” to form on its surface. You can ensure this by following the guidelines above, and you’ll be able to enjoy your beautiful cutlery for years to come.
