More about the design exhibition TOGETHER

The name SPOLU refers to three decades of collaboration between faculty and students, as well as the studio's equally long tradition of collaboration with companies. The exhibition presents the results of the studio's cooperation with important partners from the Czech Republic and Slovakia - with the companies BERNDORF- SANDRIK , TON, EGOE and CHIRANA-MEDICA and fragments of Ferdinand Chrenka's work. These are complemented by a selected collection of works from two other projects - Cink and Cucej - as well as a table and chairs from the Rádius collection designed by Ferdinand Chrenka for the presentation of the project Cutlery.

What can you see at the exhibition?

Unique cutlery made using 3d metal printing

Technological and material development is absolutely natural for BERNDORF SANDRIK. The theme of the cutlery responds to the current progress of digital technology and is a vision of the future in the field of 3D printing of metal materials. New equipment is changing the classical production and processing of metals, 3D printing is integrated with CNC technology and so metal printing and machining of complex geometries is in one device. For design, this process means more shape freedom, designing cutlery is changing from 2D to 3D. The whole process of designing cutlery can change as there will be no need for large investments in expensive moulds and metal machining. Cutlery design can take into account the individuality of consumers, regional peculiarities, different types of social dining. BERNDORF SANDRIK can thus prepare a larger product range in the future and react much easier and faster to market impulses. Moreover, in this way it can bring cutlery production back to the Žarnovica district.

There are 14 cutlery sets on display at the exhibition. Among the cutlery on display you will also find the BOND cutlery by Tomáš Ružinský, which took 2nd place in the KOLABO 2023 design competition. Also the TERRA cutlery by Zuzana Kasanova, which was nominated in the 20th National Design Award 2023.

Dining table - NOPHONE

The dining table and chairs were designed for the presentation of the project PRÍBOR by the Industrial Design Studio of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. The design of the table is exceptional with two parallel surfaces, which are connected and finished with large radius joints. The surfaces are also connected by legs, which creates stability of the table. This unusual detail has also been used in the design of dining chairs, armchairs, bar stools, cabinets, shoe cabinets......The variable assembly creates an interesting interior design.

The current trend is mobility, almost all of us carry our mobile phones, bank cards and many individually necessary things. It's common that when we sit down at the table and lay them out in front of us, our eating space is already shrinking. We sit and wait for the bell to ring, the news. Dining together has turned from concentrated conversations to chaos. The centre of the table has a cavity running the length of the table, which reinforces the structure of the table and is also a place to store things. The table thus creates the possibility of free dialogue, which is why the dining table and chairs were given the name NOPHONE. At the same time, the cavity allows the table a varied life as a staging of various social events, family holidays, corporate meetings, specific celebrations, banquets, etc. In cavity can be inserted porcelain realized specifically for this table in the form of bowls, candlesticks and vessels according to the type of food.

Chairs for TON

Thonet chairs used to be a common part of Czech and Slovak households. TON is a continuation of the famous brand, it is faithful to the traditional production of bentwood furniture in combination with bent plywood.

The studio's cooperation with TON is represented by two projects: the Chairs for TON from 2023 and the older one from 2013. Both projects, the first under the auspices of TON's then art-director Michal Riabič, and the second under the supervision of product manager Ondřej Sazima, have produced outstanding results. The collection on display presents a selection of the best designs from last year's output and from the project ten years ago.

Cink - porcelain speakers

The Czech-Slovak design project, which resulted in a collection of original porcelain loudspeakers, unconventionally combines porcelain technology with electronics. It was realised in three studios of two universities: the Průmyslový design studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of T. Bati in Zlín and in the Industrial Design Studio and Ceramics Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. The exhibited set includes a selection of several realisations.

Cucej

The Cucej project focuses on the typically Czech phenomenon of the spa cup. It was born in cooperation between the Industrial Design Studio of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and the Industrial Design Studio of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of the T. Bata University in Zlín. The exhibited works show the traditional porcelain object in a new conception and various original variants.

The CINK and CUCEJ projects were corrected and technologically led by doc. Mgr. markéta Nováková, ArtD.

BEEF SIRLOIN TARTARE WITH ROASTED GARLIC PUREE

4. 3. 2020 BEEF SIRLOIN TARTARE WITH ROASTED GARLIC PUREE

A little piece of Switzerland hidden in central Slovakia. This is what you could call the Salamandra Resort in Hodrus-Hamry. Above the hotel stretches a ski slope and right in front of it lies the Hornohodrušský tajch. Those who want to combine silence, the charm of greenery for walks and swimming in the open air will certainly find the right atmosphere here. We, however, came to hunt for a new secret recipe from master chef Robert Hudak. In his own words, Robo is living the American dream. He started out in the kitchen on a cruise ship and fortune has been with him from the start. He befriended a Slovakian chef, and he and his colleagues mentored, taught and perfected his cooking. After a few years as a chef, he was already running his own kitchen on the ship. He finished his world cruise after 4 years and anchored alongside Executive Chef Martin Korbelic in the kitchen of Salamadra Resort. When cooking, he enjoys learning and perfecting new gastronomy, but always comes back to simplicity, beauty and good tasting food. He revealed to us the recipe for the most requested dish for an evening beer - Beef Tenderloin Tartare with Roasted Garlic Puree.
