The Hodruša valley - Hodruša Hámre and its tradition of cutlery production was made famous by the Sandrik company in the last century. If we mention history, we have to go back more than a hundred years to the past, when the first factory for the production of silverware was founded in Christofle, France, in 1828, the second in1843 in Berndorf, Austria, and 51 years later, in 1895 in Hodrusa Hámre, where the Sandrik enterprise was built on the land of Jan Sandrik.

2013
Berndorf celebrated its 170th anniversary. The Premiere cutlery model, which has been produced since its beginnings in silver, celebrated along with it.
2011
During 2011, the long-awaited relocation of the company's warehouse premises took place, followed by the inauguration of the new Berndorf Customer Centre in Žarnovice on 8 April.
2007
Berndorf bought back its Austrian subsidiary Berndorf Besteck-Tafelgeräte GmbH from Guy Degrenne, putting the "bear" in the logo back in the hands of the owners.
1992
The company's new production facilities were inaugurated, completely renovated and equipped with new technology.
1991
A general meeting of the two shareholders of Berndorf and Sandrik was held in Bratislava in the presence of a notary public, at which the articles of association of the new joint stock company Berndorf-Sandrik, based in Hodrus-Hamry, were approved and signed by both parties.
1917
The year 1917 marked the beginning of the joint history of Berndorf and Sandrik. The Austrian company Artur Krupp from Berndorf bought the shares of Sandrik. This created the new manufacturing concern Artur Krupp-Sandrik-Herrmann-Bachmann, which employed around 2,500 people.
1899
In 1899 Jan Peterka, a draughtsman and artist and later director, joined the Sandrik factory. He wanted cutlery to be produced for all levels of the population, so he ordered the production of silver-plated and alpaca cutlery.
1895
On 22 April, on the land of Jan Szandrik in Hodrus-Hámry, a ceremonial excavation was made for the construction of a factory where silver cutlery and other silverware were to be produced.
1843
Alexander von Schoeller and Hermann Krupp set up a metalworking factory in the Austrian village of Berndorf. They specialised in the production of silver cutlery and silver accessories.
